What Do We Aim to Solve with the Blue Carbon Project?
Climate Change
Rising temperatures, sea level rise, and extreme weather events threaten the balance of mangrove ecosystems, reducing their ability to capture carbon and protect the coastline.
Deforestation
The conversion of mangrove areas for activities such as agriculture, aquaculture, and urbanization is one of the main causes of mangrove degradation.
Pollution
Improper waste disposal, oil contamination, and plastic accumulation harm the health of mangroves and their biodiversity.
Blue Carbon:
Forest Restoration in Alagoas Mangroves — Productive Chain and Carbon Credit System
General Objective:
To develop the Productive Chain of Forest Restoration in Mangroves, focusing on the expansion and automation of a nursery for native seedling production, the implementation of technical protocols for restoration and carbon sequestration measurement, life cycle assessment, and the training of local communities. The project promotes innovative solutions for the recovery of degraded areas, carbon credit generation, and the creation of impact-driven businesses.

Productive Chain
Map and analyze the productive chain of mangrove restoration, identifying opportunities for socio-environmental innovation.
Carbon Sequestration
Develop and apply technical protocols to measure the carbon stored in mangrove soil and vegetation.
Life Cycle Assessment
Evaluate the environmental and social impacts and benefits of restoration actions throughout their life cycle
Biodiversity Monitoring
Monitor flora and fauna in restored areas, ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of interventions.
Community Training
Provide technical and environmental training to local leaders, strengthening community leadership in restoration efforts.
